Two conditions for reducing the maximal length of node-disjoint paths in hypercubes

چکیده
Efficient methods have been developed for constructing m node-disjoint paths from one source node to other m (not necessarily distinct) destination nodes in an n-dimensional hypercube so that not only is their total length minimized, but their maximal length is also minimized in the worst case, where m ≤ n. For general case, their maximal length is not greater than the minimum of n + 1 and the maximal distance (between the source node and destination nodes) plus two. In this paper, we show that their maximal length can be further reduced by at least 1 if one of the two conditions holds. Besides, their total length remains minimum, and each path remains either shortest or second shortest. In the situation that all of the source node and destination nodes are mutually distinct, computer simulation results show that by excluding two trivial worst cases in which the maximal length of (previously) constructed node-disjoint paths (from the source node to the destination nodes) is not only greater than the maximal distance but also impossible to be further reduced, the probability that one of the two conditions holds is greater than 71%, 73%, 79%, and 85% form = n = 4, 5, 6, and 7, respectively. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. An Efficient Construction of Node Disjoint Paths in OTIS Networks
We investigate the problem of constructing the maximal number of node disjoint paths between two distinct nodes in Swapped/OTIS networks. A general construction of node disjoint paths in any OTIS network with a connected basis network is presented, which is independent of any construction of node disjoint paths in its basis network. This general construction is effective and efficient, which ca...
متن کاملMultipath Node-Disjoint Routing with Backup List Based on the AODV Protocol
In recent years, routing has been the most focused area in ad hoc networks research. On-demand routing in particular, is widely developed in bandwidth constrained mobile wireless ad hoc networks because of its effectiveness and efficiency. Most proposed on-demand routing protocols are built and relied on single route for each data session. Whenever there is a link disconnection on the active ro...
متن کاملNode-disjoint paths and related problems on hierarchical cubic networks
An n-dimensional hierarchical cubic network (denoted by HCN(n)) contains 2 n n-dimensional hypercubes. The diameter of the HCN(n), which is equal to n+(n+1)/3+1, is about two-thirds the diameter of a comparable hypercube, although it uses about half as many links per node. In this paper, a maximal number of node-disjoint paths are constructed between every two distinct nodes of the HCN(n). Th...
متن کاملFrom Hall's Matching Theorem to Optimal Routing on Hypercubes
We introduce a concept of so-called disjoint ordering for any collection of finite sets. It can be viewed as a generalization of a system of distinctive representatives for the sets. It is shown that disjoint ordering is useful for network routing. More precisely, we show that Hall’s ‘marriage’ condition for a collection of finite sets guarantees the existence of a disjoint ordering for the set...
متن کاملOn-Line Task Migration in Hypercubes Through Double Disjoint Pats
Repeated subcube allocation and deallocation in hypercubes tend to cause fragmentation, which can be taken care of by task migration. Earlier task migration dealt with the establishment of a single path from each participating node for transmitting migrated information. The time required for migration with single paths is long, if a large amount of information is moved in hypercubes. This paper...
